It\u00a0may be considered to be classical pastry for Easter. Roulettes\u00a0are traditionally baked of yeast dough with various and sundry stuffings in Ukraine. In most cases they\u00a0are filled with poppy, nuts, cottage cheese, apples, and cherries.<\/p>\n<p>But today we will dwell upon poppy seed :). In order to knead yeast dough for the roulette we use the recipe of<a title=\"Paska. Ukrainian Easter Bread\" href=\"http:\/\/easy-cooking.com.ua\/?p=3207&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0paska\u00a0<\/a>without raisins. If you bake<a title=\"Paska. Ukrainian Easter Bread\" href=\"http:\/\/easy-cooking.com.ua\/?p=3207&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0paska\u00a0<\/a>for Easter on your own, you can bake a rolled cake at the same time but don\u2019t forget to knead more dough.\u00a0Poppy stuffing is recommended for 0.5\u00a0kg flour.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2436\" title=\"\u0417\u0430\u0432\u0438\u0432\u0430\u043d\u0435\u0446\u044c \u0437 \u043c\u0430\u043a\u043e\u0432\u043e\u044e \u043d\u0430\u0447\u0438\u043d\u043a\u043e\u044e, \u0432\u0456\u043d \u0436\u0435 \u043c\u0430\u043a\u0456\u0432\u043d\u0438\u043a\" src=\"http:\/\/easy-cooking.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_0910.jpg\" alt=\"\u0441\u0442\u0440\u0443\u0434\u0435\u043b\u044c \u0437 \u043c\u0430\u043a\u043e\u043c\" width=\"566\" height=\"379\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trial.easy-cooking.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_0910.jpg 566w, https:\/\/trial.easy-cooking.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_0910-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 566px) 100vw, 566px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Makivnyk stuffing recipe<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2 glasses poppy<br \/>\n2-3 tbsp butter<br \/>\nsugar or honey as you like<br \/>\nraisins and\u00a0nuts<br \/>\n0.5 glass powdered sugar<br \/>\n1 lemon juice and peel<br \/>\n1 shotglass cognac<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Soak poppy in boiling-hot water for 20\u00a0minutes, and then strain it off and rub in makitra (or other dish) until so called poppy seed milk comes out. Instead of rubbing in makitra you may grind poppy for several times or blend it. But I have never seen any devices to rub poppy better than our Ukrainian makitra. If you know any other ways of rubbing poppy \u2013 I am all ears (or eyes :)).<\/p>\n<p>Warm up butter on the frying pan, add poppy, sugar or honey as you like and fry for several minutes on small fire. Whisk the whites with powdered sugar, take out poppy, cool a little, add the whites\u2019 froth and mix with the stuffing.
